HONDA CB TRIGGER UNVEILED

Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India had unveiled a new 150cc premium bike known as Honda CB Trigger. Few days back, there were rumors that Honda is about to launch Honda CB150R StreetFire which is a naked version of Honda CBR150R and there is so much confusions about the exact specifications of the bike to be launched. KAWASAKI NINJA 300R EXPECTED TO LAUNCH ON MAY 2013

Recently PowerDrift spotted the bike Ninja 300R in Pune. There were rumors that Bajaj, which is looking after Kawasaki's Indian operations, might replace the existing Ninja 250R with 2013 Kawasaki Ninja 300R. But we are expecting these two to be sold alongside. While Ninja 250R will continue to compete with Honda CBR250R and Hyosung GT250R, Ninja 300R will give competition to the upcoming KTM Duke 390 and its full faired sibling. The bike uses a new chassis and its frame uses main pipes made from high-tensile steel tubing that is 150% more rigid than the tubes in the previous Ninja 250Rs frame. The added rigidity provides much better chassis response and improved steering precision and feel. The bike looks a lot like Ninja 250R and adopt most of the design cues from its elder siblings. A trusted source also informed us that Ninja 300R is being tested at Vehicle Research and Development Establishment (VRDE) and also the bike has been through the ARAI tests. Bajaj seems full pre...

And since then, the company has seen many unsuccessful attempts to re-launch. If it happens, the brand could pose a direct competition to the Harley-Davidson. Polaris Chief Executive, Scott Wine, told that a debut new model to be called Chief, will be the first Indian model, which goes on sale in the US later this year. Mr. Wine expects Indian to generate over US$500 million (NZ$600m) in increased annual revenue for his company by 2016. If all goes right, Indian will be on track to compete against Harley-Davidson's dominance in the 600 plus cc segment of the global motorcycle market so far. The acquisition has already alarmed Harley-Davidson, for which Harley spokeswoman says, "We need to focus on...

Restoring a pair of riding pants

I just dyed my old (first) pair of BMW City riding pants and now they look almost as good as when I first purchased them. Originally a charcoal colour they faded to a pale grey which did not look good but otherwise they still were in excellent condition. I purchased some charcoal fabric dye from eBay cheap and 30 minutes of soaking in hot water with the dye gave me an excellent result. The photo

IMPORT DUTY OF 800CC BIKES INCREASED

Government of India has increased the import duty of bikes having engine capacity over 800cc from 60 per cent to 75 per cent. The market of high-end performance bikes had started to gain momentum in past two years but this step might result in a slowdown in the segment. We know that companies are only allowed to import bikes above 800cc and below this they have to assemble bikes locally in India. The government's intention behind this step is to encourage local assembly of these bikes which means establishment of factories, employment for a larger labour force and higher investment. Though the decision might result in an initial slowdown, it will be beneficial. Shreyans, the official and exclusive importer for Bombardier Recreational Products, Ducati, Ferrari and Maserati in India, says, "The increase in import duties on CBU's and bikes over 800cc is indeed going to affect the growth of the automobile industry. A move which provided impetus to the industry, already un...

HONDA CBF STUNNER PGM-FI VARIANT DISCONTINUED

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has been doing well since the split of the partnership with Hero MotoCorp. Though Honda has launched some very good motorcycles in the Indian market, there are few disappointments. Honda CBF Stunner , which is one of the disappointment, has now stopped raving up the atmosphere for the company which is mainly due to the lack of updations. The other reason being competition with their counterpart Hero MotoCorp Ignitor, which is based on the same bike and is being reported to be running better than CBF Stunner. But I think the prime reason is the price(Ignitor is way cheaper than the Stunner PGM-FI). Honda was selling CBF Stunner in two different variants called Stunner PGM-FI and Stunner. There were a vast difference in the prices of the two, though there was no differences in styling or performance. While the PGM-FI variant was priced at Rs 65,845, the carburetted variant priced at Rs 56,348. Stunner PGM-FI was even costlier than Honda CB Unic...
