Mahindra & Mahindra, the leading SUV maker in the country, stepped into the two wheeler segment after acquiring Kinetic Engineering, which it renamed as Mahindra Two-wheelers. Not too long after the acquisition, Mahindra launched its first bike Stallio 110, which was unveiled by Aamir Khan, the bollywood superstar. However, the bike could not prove to be successful, as its gearbox had technical issues. Therefore, the company pulled Stallio 110 out of the market and since then, no other bike has been launched so far by Mahindra. Now, the company plans to relaunch Stallio 110 with a new name, Mahindra Panthero 110. Aamir Khan, who is also the brand ambassador of Mahindra Stallio, has ridden this bike in his upcoming flick Talaash, which is soon going to hit screens. In a teaser of the movie, we observe Aamir riding the bike while Rani Mukhrjee sits behind him.
This scene is considered as the first promotional video of the upcoming Panthero 110 across the industry and we agree with this wholeheartedly. The Stallio 110 or now the Panthero 110 as it has been newly christened, is a mass segment bike and will target college students as well as daily commuters. We recently reported that the bike was spotted during test runs at several places in the country and will be launched in January or February 2013.
The Panthero 110, being a mass segment bike will try to lure college goers and the youth, apart from the daily commuters. The bike has been spotted testing at several places in the country and is expected to be launched by early next year. Just like Mahindra's cars and SUVs, which has a name ending in 'O', the Stallio and now the Panthero too has followed the same nomenclature. The yet to be launched Panthero, except for the name, has most of the features, the same as Stallio.
The all new Mahindra Panthero would be powered by a 110cc, four stroke engine capable of delivering a maximum power of 7.3 bhp and a peak torque of 8 Nm. The engine is likely to come mated with a 4-speed manual gearbox. The other features of the new Panthero would be the same as Stallio.
We expect that the company will launch a full fledged promotional video at the time of the launch that will also feature Aamir. However, it will be very difficult for Mahindra to make its way into the jam-packed commuter segment as the Panthero has to face the heat of competition from the likes of Hero Passion XPro 110, Honda Dream Yuga and Twister and is likely to come with a price tag of around Rs. 45,000.
