The pneumatic tyre was invented by John Boyd Dunlop in 1888 for use on push-bikes. Boyd also invented the word �pneumatic�.

Slick tyres offer more grip in the wet than treaded tyres up to the point at which they aquaplane.

Modern sports bike tyres don�t contain any natural rubber.

Front tyres disperse water at three times the rate of rear tyres.

When cornering, 75 per cent of a bikes grip comes from the front tyre.

The GS in GSX-R denotes four cylinders with overhead valves. The X means four valves per cylinder and the R is for race replica.

Vespa means wasp.

Cucciolo (the name of the first Ducati) means puppy.

Hayabusa


Hayabusa is the name of a Japanese falcon that preys on blackbirds (you gotta larf!). It was also the name of a WW2 Kamikaze fighter plane.

The first Honda motorcycles were pushbikes with generator engines for army field telephones bolted on.

TVS WITH THREE NEW PRODUCTS

TVS Motor Company which is a chennai-based Indian two-wheeler manufacturer is preparing to launch two scooters and one motorcycle. The most important thing is the re-entry of TVS Victor, while the two automatic scooters will be India�s first Hybrid automatic scooter, Qube Hybrid and a 125 cc Automatic scooter. Qube will give all-new direction to the Indian scooter market. Qube was first showcased at 2010 Auto Expo and then at 2012 Auto Expo. The scooter has a 100cc four stroke engine paired with an electric motor which comes with extended battery pack to ensure a longer covering range.  These two scooters are expected to have a higher fuel economy of 70kmpl. HARLEY DAVIDSON TARGETING INDIA WOMEN

One of the famous American motorcycle maker Harley-Davidson after establishing their feet in the Indian market, they are doing well in India and now they are aiming to attract women as the global trend of women taking to bike-riding is increasing. Karen Davidson, the great-granddaughter of Harley Davidson co-founder William Davidson and Creative Director of Harley-Davidson bike company, said "Women riders on Harley-Davidson are not unusual. It was unusual years back, when I used to ride it. But now it's common.". She also added, �As much as a quarter of registered motorcycle owners in US are women.�. �We sell 12 per cent of our brand new bikes to women.� said Davidson, who is in Goa to participate in the 110th year celebrations of the company. "Women are empowered now and can enter politics, sports.
